oses and I were fortunate to spend a week in New Orleans over Mardi Gras. Our friend Melanie Rose came along to babysit while I busked. She agreed to work for a percentage of whatever I made on the street, an arrangement that proved to be less than prosperous financially, though we did all manage to have a great time in Nawlins. The boy was a bead magnet. People would just give him their fancy beads and no one asked him to show anything but a smile :) I got some nice ones myself as tips for street music, but tried not to encourage that as I needed dollars more than shiny plastic. Most of the folks weaving their way through the streets of the Quarter are there on the Magpie plan,---shiny plastic, public drinking, and viewing or showing of tits. It was safest to work in daytime only. Moses and Melanie would come in at their leisure and we would ride home together before dark. NEXT...
